Dog License

Dog licenses are available at the office of the Town Clerk.

Dog licenses are valid for a one-year span; July 1st through June 30th.
Licenses can be obtained either by walk-in or by mail-in registration.
Licenses for the July 1st-June 30th cycle are available for purchase beginning June 1st.

All new licenses require a copy of your dog’s current rabies certificate from a veterinarian. Renewal license notices will indicate whether proof of an updated rabies certificate is required. Licenses for new dogs that were not licensed in a prior year also require a copy of the spay/neuter certificate from the veterinarian if applicable. If licensing via walk-in registration, be sure to bring the required documents and payment with you at the time of application.

If licensing via mail-in registration, be sure to enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope and the required documents and proper payment. We will return any documents of proof that are sent to us via mail.

Non-Neutered/Spayed Dogs	$19.00
Late licensing penalty	$1.00 per month
Transfer of ownership	$1.00 for new dog if already licensed
Lost tag	$.50
Change of residence (town)	$1.00
Kennel License	$51.00 for up to 10 dogs / $102.00 for more than 10 dogs
Guide/Assistance Dogs	Free

Payments can be made by either cash or check. Checks can be made payable to “Watertown Town Clerk”.
